Our Staff

Dr. Teresa Fair BVSc (Hons)

Teresa is the oldest member of the practice, so she won’t tell you when she graduated (with honours). Suffice to say she was, and still is, a Neil Young fan. This is the third practice Teresa has owned - and the best, she says. Teresa has an interest in small animal medicine, having completed intensive post graduate courses in small animal cardiology, small animal medicine and ophthalmology. Teresa’s constant work and home companion is Ralph, without doubt the most handsome cattle-greyhound cross in Sydney.

Dr. Gwilym Hunt BVSc, MACVSc (Surgery)

Gwilym was born in Cardiff, Wales, but grew up and studied in Sydney. He returned to Sydney in 2001 after working in England for eight years, a stint which included three years managing a successful London practice. Gwilym is the hospital's second boss, being 50-50 owner with Teresa. He is an excellent surgeon with a special interest in orthopaedics. He recently gained special recognition for this ability, completing his studies for membership of the the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists' surgery chapter.

Dr. Gregory Behm BVSc

Greg completed his veterinary science degree at Sydney University in 2001, and has worked in small animal medicine ever since. After graduation, Greg spent three years in the United Kingdom, working as a locum vet between journeying as far afoot as Central America and the Middle East. Since returning home, he has worked at a range of small animal specialist and emergency centres throughout Sydney. Greg will complete a master’s degree in small animal medicine and surgery at Perth’s Murdoch University in 2009.

Dr. Joanne Smaller BVSc (Hons), B.Sc (Vet)

Joanne is the newest addition to our prized Veterinary team. She graduated from Sydney University, but moved to the tropics to begin her practicing career. She returned to Sydney and joined the Annandale team in 2007, after a close call with an Inland Taipan, the most venomous snake in the world. Joanne continues to have a special interest in birds, reptiles, wildlife and her two Golden Retrievers, Napoleon and Honey.

Sarah Ryan

Sarah is our head nurse, joining us in early 2008. She has worked as a Veterinary Nurse since she was 18, and is the only member of staff to have practiced on three continents - having plied her trade in Australia, Ireland and Canada. She is the proud owner of two ferrets, Mimi and Hector.

Monica Harrison

Monica gave up running a successful business to become a fully qualified (and very good) vet nurse. Since the birth of her twins, Tex and Abby, six years ago, Monica has a busy job at home. Yet she still manages to find time to work three days a week.

Alyssa Carter

Alyssa started with us many moons ago, at the bright young age of 18. Nearly ten years later, she has become part of the furniture. Alyssa has six cats at home; Lucy, Toby, Mouse, Annie, Harry and Fergus. She also owns Pixel, the bubbly Jack Russel-Staffy cross who thinks everyone is just fantastic. Alyssa also hand-rears kittens left on our doorstep, and works extensively with local charities.

Jenna Luskey

Jenna is a nurse with a lifelong passion for working with animals. We are the second veterinary clinic she has worked with. Jenna's love of animals is evident in the veritable entourage she keeps at home, comprising three cats, a dog, and families of birds and fish. She is a keen learner and hopes to one day become a veterinary practice manager.

Jackie Phillis

Jackie is our Veterinary Nurse-in training. Born and bred right here in the inner west, she works for us as an animal attendant whilst undertaking her nursing studies at Ultimo TAFE. She loves animals and all aspects of animal care, and is the proud owner of two dogs and a cat. She has a particular interest in reptiles. Jackie is an avid Rugby League fan and Wests Tigers tragic.

Darlane Hardman

We are lucky to have Darlane as our morning kennel hand. Darlane also has a menagerie at home, including a Staffy called Darcy and three cats, the eldest being Pokey, a seventeen-year old Burmese that came in for rehousing three years ago. Darlane is an excellent, fully qualified Veterinary Nurse.
