NEWS FROM WRS: Dec 05

Term 4 of activities at WRS is underway! New additions include an anxiety and depression education group at Wiseman's Ferry and a knitting group organised by WRS consumers. Please ask staff for a copy of the latest program if you haven't already seen it.

Unfortunately we had to cancel the last carers education group in September due to low numbers. Please refer any carers you think may benefit from some support and education ASAP as we will run an abbreviated group prior to Christmas if we have the numbers.

There was a successful collaboration between EPIS & WRS last week when we ran a free sausage sizzle (photos attached) and information stall at Hornsby Westfield to celebrate Stress Less day and Mental Health Week. We served up 300 sausages and almost as many brochures and balloons and fielded many questions about mental health and mental illness. The community members who attended were very appreciative.

Several HKMH staff also attended the NSCCAMHS Recovery Forum at Central Coast Leagues Club on Wednesday 19th October 2005, which was a thought provoking day. Jenny Kemp has reading material if you are interested!

On a personal note, we extend our sympathy to Matthew Kinsman-Smith on the loss of his mother recently and our thoughts are with Indigo Rickards as she spends time with her terminally ill father in Wales over the next few weeks.
