Carers Australia - Carer Counselling Services
Carers Australia recognises the extra work carers do providing care and support to their husband, wife, partner, friend or child who is unable to take appropriate care of themselves. They also understand the impact this has on the carer's physical and' emotional wellbeing.
Carers Australia is the peak body in Australia for a network of caring associations across the country. Their job is to care for carers and they are funded by the Australian Government to offer services, such as carer counselling, to make carers' live a little easier.
At times, the caring role can be an emotional roller-coaster which can make you feel totally alone, sometimes guilty or trapped and very often not understood. This can become incredibly draining and the possibility of a break may seem impossible. Talking things over with another person, unrelated to the situation, can be a liberating experience as it is not always easy, nor appropriate to talk these feelings over with a family member or a friend who is close to the situation. The network of carer associations offers Carer Counselling to carers and provides a safe place to express your emotions without being judged.
If you would like to find out more about Carer Counselling, contact your nearest Carer Association by phoning Freecall 1800 242 636, or talk to your doctor and they can refer you. |
