Speaker Biographies
TERRY HAWKINS Australia
Ask Terry Hawkins what her specialty is and she will tell you simply - PEOPLE. Terry knows how to give her audience a great time while they learn strategies that can change the way they look and feel about life forever! After many years working in State and National roles for major companies, Terry established her training company People in Progress in 1988. Her background stems from the coal-face, knowing what it takes to make a business work. People in Progress is now considered one of the most respected and results orientated companies in its field. Having trained over 100,000 people in the business sector, Terry is a pioneer in developing leading edge programmes and presentations that support business & teams in finding their ‘gap’ and achieving their goals. Her fascination with the unconscious mind has led her to studying incessantly about peak performance and the blockages that stop people from succeeding and has become a Master Practitioner in NLP in the process. She is one of those rare people who can deliver a message that you will remember forever!
KARYN GAVZER USA MBA, CVPM
Karyn is a practice management consultant specialising in marketing and training. She says her job is to help practices “go and grow” with new ideas and practical plans and has worked with industry, associations, and veterinary practices for over 18 years. She is best known, however, as the former director of marketing for the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) where she created public campaigns with industry, such as “Pets Need Dentistry, Too” and training programs to help veterinarians and their staff market their services more effectively.
Karyn has an MBA and she is one of only 200 certified veterinary hospital managers (CVPM) in North America. She is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and one of the founders of the Association of Veterinary Practice Managers, Consultants and Advisors (AVPMCA). She is particularly well known for helping practices with strategic planning and with implementing improvements from the AAHA compliance study. Above all else, Karyn says she is a pet owner and one of the people that walk through the front door of your office every day. She makes a point of sharing that perspective in all of her work.
JOHN TAIT Canada BSc, DVM, MBA, CFP
John was a private practitioner for nine years and in that time owned and managed two veterinary hospitals. He then became the Vice President of Veterinary Centers of America, the largest acquisition and consolidation group in the U.S.A and was responsible for over forty practices in the Midwest.
John is currently the President-Elect of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and an Assistant Professor at Ontario Veterinary College, teaching personal financial & career planning, and practice economics.
