Are Your Ready For Lickables?
We’ve spent this year preparing the best range of treats in Australia. We searched long and hard for a range of treats that dogs would love that were also nutritious with health benefits for dogs.
We then wanted high quality, premium packaging to reflect the quality of the product, and we needed to be able to sell them that at a realistic price that allowed you to make good margin when re-selling the product to dog owners.
The end result is Lickables - and they will be available for sale from next week from Dr Neil’s.

Consumers are already excited about the range with ads in the Urban Animal and Dogs Victoria preparing dog owners for the launch, with many requesting a sample.
Dr Neil’s is launching the range with a bang! You can enjoy 4 + 1  savings when getting the range on to your shelves. Order four boxes of Lickables and receive a fifth box free. It’s the cheapest and easiest way to get the full range of Lickables on your shelves.
To ensure Lickables are flying off your shelf they will be promoted at the World Dog Games, the Pet and Animal Expo, as well as a variety of dog shows to ensure grass roots support and consumer pull-through for the range.
There will also be plenty of consumer advertising across Australia to increase awareness and have dog owners visiting you to purchase the treats.
How rare it is to see treats with detailed nutritional information on the packet. Most treats don’t even contain a full list of ingredients, let alone information about the levels of protein, energy, fat, carbohydrates, sugar and sodium.
The difference is Lickables have nothing to hide! There are absolutely no additives, no preservatives, no colourings and no flavourings.
Consider this list of ingredients from a leading treat:
wheat flour, soy grits, water, sugar, corn flour, bacon, animal fat (preserved with bha, citric acid), glycerin, hydrogenated corn starch hydrolysate, salt, natural bacon and smoke flavours, phosphoric acid, calcium carbonate, sorbic acid (a preservative), calcium propionate (a preservative), color added (titanium dioxide, yellow #6, red #40, red #3, and blue #2), and lecithin.
No wonder this isn’t listed on the packaging, but only found buried deep in the company’s website. It's a massive contrast to the one ingredient that is found in each Lickables flavour.
While wheat is a natural product, it can also cause problems for dogs with a wheat allergy. Wheat allergies are becoming more common and can cause skin problems and other problems for dogs.
Lickables contain no additives, not even wheat. The fresh  product simply has the moisture removed through dehydration, and is packaged!
Appealing to a Dog’s Sense of Smell
Did you know that humans have 5 million smell receptors in our nose. That might seem like a lot, but dogs have up to 200 million smell receptors!
Because of this dogs actually judge their food based on the smell, rather than the taste. Dogs actually have less taste buds that humans, but make up for it with their strong sense of smell.
So it is important that a treat for dogs has a strong smell that dogs recognise and enjoy. Lickables fit the bill perfectly, with a strong, fresh smell that drives dogs wild!
Consider this fact:
When 1kg of fresh product, such as Lamb Liver, Fish, or Roo Meat is dehydrated it becomes between 200g and 300g of  Lickables. But it still has all of the aroma, flavour and nutrients of the full 1kg of fresh product.
This gives you an idea of how strong the Lickables aroma is, as well as how tasty and how nutritious they can be.
