New Road Rule for NSW Drivers
from 1st July 2008
Attention: Pet Owners
Rule Name: Driver to have proper control of a vehicle
As from the 1st July 2008 a driver must not drive with an animal (or person for that matter) on their lap. Nor can a motorcyclist ride with an animal on the fuel tank.
The Penalty is 3 demerit points (4 in a school zone) and a $324 fine ($405 in a school zone). The only exception is a person travelling less than 500 metres for the purposes of farming.
Please ensure your animal is always properly restrained when travelling in the car or on a motorbike.
