Renovation Update

Yes, our major renovations have actually- finally- begun! As I write this, (November 20th) the whole back half of the building has been demolished, in preparation for the construction phase to begin. The front half of the building, which you’re probably most familiar with- containing the reception area, consultation rooms, pharmacy and lab, remains unchanged. The kennels, hospital and staff area have all temporarily moved into purpose-built veterinary demountables in the back yard of our next door neighbour.
A cup of coffee in our new lunch room has become a particularly cosy experience, and we’re all getting to know each other better than we ever thought possible. So we’ve all taken a deep breath and keep thinking of how great things will be in a year’s time.
Over the years the practice has expanded dramatically, and we’ve simply outgrown our facilities.
Consequently we’re very excited about the new building. We’ll be gaining a very much expanded treatment area, an additional theatre, separate kennels for dogs and cats, a dedicated wildlife isolation area, larger runs and exercise areas for both dogs and cats, a much larger staff area, a second and larger lab, a dedicated grooming area, an expanded nuclear medicine area, dramatically more office space, and a seminar room which will double up as our puppy pre-school class room.
We’ll also be installing a large, eco-friendly rainwater tank.
So we feel that the inconvenience will be well and truly worthwhile. Happily, the comfort of our hospitalised patients has not been compromised during the renovation period- they are still being accommodated in roomy, air-conditioned cages.

We’re well aware of the inconvenience that the renovations are causing you, particularly with respect to parking facilities. Staff cars are now being parked off-site, to allow as much space as possible in the front car park for the use of clients.
There will nevertheless inevitably be times when parking proves difficult. If you do pull into the car park to find no free spaces, there are usually on-street spaces in Tennyson Rd after business hours and on weekends. In addition, the practice can be accessed from College St (one block behind Victoria Rd) via the walkway immediately to the west of the practice: the walkway is between College St house numbers 12 and 14. There are also some 1 hour spaces in Monash Rd.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience you may experience, and we really do appreciate your patience.
If you’re interested in seeing the layout of the new building, you’ll find the architectural plans displayed on the waiting room notice board. We hope to be sharing a glass of champagne or two with you in 12 months or so to celebrate our grand new beginning. |
