Congratulations!

GVH vet Dr Pam Short has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Australian Veterinary Association.
The AVA is the professional organisation for veterinarians across Australia, aiming to represent the veterinary profession with one voice.
Pam has been a member of the AVA since 1985. She has in the past served as Secretary/ Treasurer of one of the AVA’s twenty two special interest groups, the Australian Veterinary Acupuncture Group, and is currently that organisation’s President-Elect. The AVA provides leadership and expert scientific advice in animal health, welfare and conservation and in public health, biosecurity and agriculture. It promotes the veterinary profession and advocates AVA policy to government and the community, sets standards of professional excellence, provides a forum for professional support and the exchange of information and ideas, and facilitates continuing education for the profession.
Six directors of the AVA Board are elected by members (the category into which Pam falls), and three are nominated by each of the three largest special interest groups.
All directors serve a three-year term.
Pam is very much looking forward to this new opportunity to contribute something back to the profession which has provided her with such a fulfilling and rewarding career.
