iM3 42-12 & Odontoson Ferrite Rod Remover It is important that the ferrite rod (Stack) is tight with the tip.   Use the rod changing pliers, and steel pins to change and tighten the ferrite rods. (See illustration below).  If the rod is not tight, the high frequency vibrations will not be adequately transferred to the tip. A new ferrite rod holder (9a) allows you to place the rod with the pin in place in the holder with the pliers around the top of the rod.  Insert the rod with the pin in place into the holder and instead of holding the pin as illustrated above, grasp the bar at the bottom of the holder and undo the rod clockwise.
