The Maryborough “Ready Set Web” Season 2007 Soccer Competition

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL PLAYERS FOR THE WAY THEY HAVE COMPETED THIS YEAR.

And congratulations to the under 13 BDSA squad which missed out on finals by one game, a fantastic effort in their first year and with a very young squad.

Our season ends on the 22nd with representative match and President’s Cup. 9.30 and 10.30 am.
Two representative U/11 teams will play as a curtain raiser to the President’s Cup on September 22nd.
Players in these squads will be named in next week’s newsletter. Let John know if you cannot play.

Under 11 Final week. 15th September Knock-Out round.

We have the knock out because it’s lots of fun but with 10 teams, as with last year, the draw is complicated. The following rules will apply. If they don’t seem fair, tell the players it’s the only way it can be done.

5 games will return 5 winners.

Clear winners will go through to the semis: winners on penalty shoot outs may not. (we must get down to 4 teams for the semis.) And trust me this does work, it’s our 3rd year now!!
5 clear winners means that the team scoring the lowest number of goals drops out.
4 clear winners - all 4 advance to the semis.
3 clear winners - 2 winners on penalties have another shoot out to decide 4th place.
2 clear winners - 3 winners on penalties have another shoot out to decide 3rd & 4th place.
1 clear winner - 4 winners on penalties have another shoot out to decide 2nd, 3rd & 4th place. ETC.

Game 1 - 8.45 am Gunners V Strikers
Game 2 - 9.05 am Saints V Wolves
Game 3 - 9.25 am Forest V Rangers
Game 4 - 9.45 am Spurs V City
Game 5 - 10.05 am Celtic V United

Semi-final  10.30 am FIRST CLEAR OUTRIGHT V SECOND CLEAR OUTRIGHT
10.50 am THIRD CLEAR OUTRIGHT V FOURTH CLEAR OUTRIGHT
FINAL   11.15 am SEMI FINAL WINNERS.

Rules for this competition:

Games will last for 15 minutes with no half time. (Final, 2 x 10 minute halves.)
If scores even at full time a penalty shoot out will take place. (3 penalties each team, then sudden death)
Note: We cannot allow players from other teams  as guests for this week. No matter what the numbers.

RETURN OF SOCCER CLUB SHIRTS: This will take place on Saturday Sept.15th after the games. Players should bring an extra shirt to change into.

CHOCOLATE DRIVE:

People have done a wonderful job supporting this fund raiser and many thanks for that. However, we do need the money in from everyone. Please ensure this goes to Graham Fary or any committee member.

Presentation Evening

Details are yet to be finalised.It is hoped to hold this in the last week of school term. More details next week.

ANZ South West Games competition in Warrnambool.

Age groups for this are Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 16. Competition takes place on Saturday October 27th. Mark & Penny are organising so contact them.
