2008 “The Year Of Change”

This year sees the introduction of a 3-tiered structure for the club with the splitting of the competition into Under 9, Under 13 and Under 17’s. I have no doubt that it will be successful with the Under 9 and Under 13 group playing a similar competition to the much talked about small sided games competition being adopted by Football Australia right across the country.'

Undeniably, the biggest step for our club in recent years sees us moving to “Frank Graham Oval” later this year and it becoming our new home. The support for the club in this endeavor has grown immensely with council, business groups, owner operators, volunteer organizations and some of the club’s mums and dads getting right behind us to help make it all come to fruition.

Already the ground development has used 250 cubic metres of soil brought in from the “Kerang district”, many bags of seed and some 200,000 litres of water trucked in to help with the germination of grass that will hopefully see it becoming a terrific playing surface. A direct investment made by the club of some $8,000.00 so far with the council and in kind support from business bringing the progressive total to some $15,000.00 should see it become everything we hope for in a new ground. There is still much to be done before we can move and the season has had to get under way at “Peel St” until the new facility is finished.

We still require much needed help running the competition with the new ground taking up most of the clubs already depleted resources. As a result of the competition splitting we have made the decision that each under 17 team will need a team manager to help disseminate information so as to simplify our processes on game days. These roles do not carry much work, are relatively simply and being created to help relieve some of the burden undertaken by our coaches who do a wonderful job week to week. So please if you are able to volunteer that would be great. See your team’s coach and then advise a club official, thank-you.
