Our People
People are a PR and digital marketing firm’s greatest asset. That’s why at Network Communications we strive to have the best mix of experience and skills within our boutique agency.
PR, and especially online social media marketing services, are perceived as a younger person’s game.
We’ve certainly got young people in our team. Some of them are unashamedly ‘geeks’. They live and breathe technology, online and social media - 24/7. But young is relative - the average work experience of our client support team is 10 years.
While clients need an agency that has staff who can navigate the new worlds - and do the ‘hands on’ connecting and engaging with today’s online savvy audiences, and citizen journalists - communication without strategy is both risky and potentially dangerous.
That’s why heading the agency are three senior staff, with over 60 years collective experience covering PR, Publishing, Marketing, Research and Advertising.
They have experienced and learnt from past business cycles and have a reservoir of experience and insights, successes and failures, tools and tips to bring to the table.
We call this mix of old and young as ‘old heads on young shoulders’. It enables us to offer a blend of experience mixed with fresh thinking. The mix of the often sober experience of what has been done from those who have been there before, with the enthusiasm those who see the potential of what might be possible, contributes to a balanced approach. It’s a combination we like to think clients can trust.
Here are the profiles of the ‘old(er) heads’:
Grant Common, Managing Director
Geoff Hoddinott, Head - Technology & B2B
Lesley White, Head - Consumer Digital
The ‘young shoulders’ bring a variety of skills and experience including:
- journalist experience on a range of tech publications such as PC Magazine and PC Week
- project management experience at a web development agency for clients such as Qantas
- account management experience at an interactive digital agency for clients such as Telstra/Big Pond
- online content management of specialist health and lifestyle portals at Nine MSN
- a ‘major’ in Media Production
One of our staff has been blogging, and participating in and moderating forums, since 1993. Two staff rank as Top 100 Australian marketing bloggers.
