Conquering Consumerspace: Marketing Strategies for a Branded World

Today, more than ever before, consumers are more aware of the role of marketing in the process of selling products.

In Conquering Consumerspace: Marketing Strategies for a Branded World, Solomon differentiates ‘marketingspace’ from ‘consumerspace’.

He describes ‘marketingspace’ as a means for companies to promote and sell their products to us, whereas ‘consumerspace’ is characterised by a place "where we avidly search for the products and services that will define who we are and who we want to be". Consumerspace is where products are personified by consumer desire for social identity and acceptance.

In his book, Solomon discusses the trend towards making consumers participants in the process of selling brands and products, so they may feel to be an integral part of what they buy and consume.

Solomon’s book features detailed strategies for marketers about what consumers are buying today, why they are buying, and how best to capture consumer interest in today’s new ‘consumerspace’.
