The practice of manufacturing "independent experts" and putting "your words in their mouths" comes under fire in a new book released in early January. Trust Us, We’re Experts puts "a whole new spin on spin" and is "destined to be hated by PR firms and corporations everywhere".

Authors of the book, Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber list many examples of opinions being placed in the media by legitimate doctors, scientists and other professions who are, in reality, on the payroll of large PR firms and corporations. With chapters such as "The Best Science Money Can Buy", "Global Warming Is Good For You" and "Packaging The Beast", it’s well worth looking out for.

The publisher is Tarcher/Putnam.
