Applications

The name ‘Pot’ Magnet has become part of the magnet vocabulary for obscure reasons (probably because they traditionally use a magnet core empotted within a steel cup, using an epoxy resin or other medium).

Pot magnets are simple, shallow, two-pole magnets using a circular ring of Ferrite or Neodymium (Rare Earth) as a core, housed in a soft iron or steel cup. The steel cup conducts one of the poles to the rim, forming a North-South air-gap between the rim and the core. A centre pole can be added to form a second air-gap, providing even greater holding power.
