Here’s what is needed (as a minimum) to properly size and recommend a magnet for suspension over a conveyor;

Usually, offending iron is easiest to recover with the magnet positioned over the trajectory of product as it discharges from a conveyor. If, however, this position is not possible, good recovery can be achieved with the magnet across the belt.
