Writing and Dramaturgy
New Scripts
Monsters and Mayhem can develop new play scripts, with a particular focus on theatre in education, puppetry and work for children. Jillian Webster has written numerous works for children, many of them for performance in venues such as museums, historic buildings, galleries, and science centres. She also has experience developing concepts for improvised work such as wandering street theatre characters. Her work for adults includes "Children of the Sun", winner of the 1999 Write Now competition (Sydney, Australia).
Dramaturgy
Our dramaturgy and script assessment service exists to help playwrights make their scripts the best they can be. We read your work and offer constructive feedback and suggestions about how you might approach the next draft. We can do this either by providing a written report, or a face to face meeting for a more in-depth discussion. This service is available for any theatre script including work for adults. Our dramaturge has experience working with a prestigious national script assessment organisation (the Australian National Playwrights Centre) as well as working with teenagers writing for theatre for the first time.
We believe in honesty and sensitivity in assessing people's work, and understand and respect the personal effort that is involved in creating a new script.
Screenplays
We do not have expertise in screenplays (for film, TV or video). We would be happy to comment, but would recommend you try to contact Scottish Screen regarding advice in this area (look under 'script reading services'). |
